ABOUT
HYPNOSIS AT SHA-LA: DEEP REST WITH A DIRECTION
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused, deeply relaxed attention, the same state you drift through just before sleep. In our guided hypnosis sessions a trained practitioner leads you there with voice, breath and imagery, then works with themes like sleep, stress, confidence, habits or simply letting go. You stay aware the whole time and remember everything.
We offer hypnosis as part of RECOVER because it belongs with sound baths and Yoga Nidra: an hour where the nervous system is allowed to drop its guard. Sessions take place lying down in the quiet rooms of SHA-LA Waterfront and SHA-LA Prenzlauer Berg, often combined with live sound.

COMMUNITY
SAFE, GENTLE, YOURS
Stage hypnosis has given the word a strange reputation. Real hypnosis is quiet and consensual: you cannot be made to do anything, you can open your eyes at any time, and most people describe it as the deepest rest they have had in weeks.
Our practitioners are trained and experienced in holding group spaces. If you are working through trauma, acute anxiety or a psychiatric condition, please speak to them before the session or consult your doctor first.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does hypnosis feel like?
Heavy, warm and calm, like the edge of sleep. Time often feels shorter than it was. You hear everything and can move or open your eyes whenever you want.
Can everyone be hypnotised?
Almost everyone can reach a relaxed hypnotic state when they want to. Depth varies from person to person and gets easier with practice.
Is hypnosis a substitute for therapy?
No. Group hypnosis is a wellbeing practice for rest, focus and gentle change. For clinical issues please see a therapist or doctor; hypnosis can complement that work.
What should I bring?
Comfortable warm clothes. Mats, bolsters, blankets and eye pillows are provided. Avoid caffeine right before and give yourself a slow evening afterwards.
