SOUND BATHS IN BERLIN — CRYSTAL BOWLS, GONGS AND VOICE IN THE ARCHED ROOMS OF SHA-LA WATERFRONT AND ON KASTANIENALLEE. WEEKLY SOUND HEALING CLASSES AND ALL-NIGHT GONG EVENTS.
ABOUT
SOUND HEALING AT SHA-LA: THE EASIEST MEDITATION YOU’LL EVER DO
A sound bath is a lying-down meditation guided entirely by sound. You settle under a blanket, the facilitator plays crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes and voice, and the vibration does the rest. Brainwaves slow, breathing deepens, the body shifts out of fight-or-flight. Most people leave quieter than they arrived; some fall asleep, and that is allowed.
Sound has been part of SHA-LA since the beginning, from the gong at the end of a Jivamukti class to our all-night gong puja. Today we host weekly sound baths at SHA-LA Waterfront and SHA-LA Prenzlauer Berg, plus sound journeys combined with breathwork, hypnosis and Yoga Nidra.

COMMUNITY
A ROOM BUILT FOR LISTENING
SHA-LA Waterfront is a 19th-century grain storehouse with double-height arched windows and raw concrete columns. Gongs sound different in there. Our Kastanienallee studio is smaller and warmer, ideal for intimate bowl sessions. Both are quiet, dimmed and generously stocked with bolsters and blankets.
Sound baths are suitable for everyone, including people who have never meditated or practised yoga. If you are pregnant or have a pacemaker, metal implants or epilepsy, please let the facilitator know so they can position you well.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I expect at my first sound bath?
You arrive, build a comfortable nest with mat, bolster and blanket, lie down and close your eyes. The facilitator plays for about an hour. You may feel waves of warmth, tingling or vivid images, or simply drift off.
Does a sound bath really help with stress and sleep?
Many of our community use sound baths as a weekly reset and report better sleep that night. Slow, low-frequency sound supports the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the rest-and-digest side of your body.
How often do you host sound events?
Weekly sound baths are on the regular schedule, and special events like gong pujas and sound journeys are listed on the Events page for each studio.
What should I wear or bring?
Warm, comfortable clothes and socks. Everything else is provided. Avoid a heavy meal right before.
